It’s that time of year again when Edinburgh’s population suddenly explodes and the streets are filled with the weird, the wonderful, and posters covering every possible space! I’m delighted to be representing these shows, which reflect the wide range and depth of artistic talent in Scotland – a viscerally satirical 5 star rock opera, a play about stepdance and Scotland’s indigenous culture, and a specially curated programme of music (at the Fringe’s oldest travelling venue) that includes African dancebeats, Americana, Blues, Folk, Funk, Roots, Rock and Indie. Please follow the links and check them out.

SOUNDS OF SCOTLAND

DYSTOPIA: THE ROCK OPERA
1-16 Aug, 17:20
Grand Hall at Braw Venues (Grand Lodge), 96 George St (venue 7a)
Blistering musicality, razor sharp political satire and spectacular masks collide as a prison band of dictators and traitors takes you on an exhilarating journey from tyranny to enlightenment.

DEISEIL: DANCING IN TIME
8-16 Aug (not 10th) 17:20
The Space, Jeffrey Street (Venue 45)
Powerful exploration of how stepdance, Scotland’s percussive dance, was lost, and how its revival became woven into a lifelong friendship. Performed by Alison Carlyle and Amy Geddes, directed by Gerry Mulgrew.

THE COUNTESS OF FIFE
12-17 Aug, 22:30
The Voodoo Rooms, West Register Street (Venue 68)
