Camille Flies South

Shortly after the final take of the last scene of Mrs Henderson Presents, Camille will be flying south for the winter, though not for a rest.  She will be   re-joining The Famous Spiegeltent at its new temporary home in Melbourne, where she will be performing The Dark Angel and also appearing in the late night cabaret.

Camille’s film role with Judi Dench, Will Young

In addition to performing her own shows -  Camille Sings Brel and The Dark Angel – at the Edinburgh Fringe, Camille was also appearing in the Speigeltent’s late night cabaret burlesque, La Clique (which fast became one of the must-sees of the festival).

One member of the audience at La Clique was Edinburgh’s Euan Bremner – aka Spud from the hit film Trainspotting – who was very impressed.  It so happened that the next day Stephen Frears (for whom Euan had recently unsuccessfully auditioned) was in Edinburgh to make a speech and by chance bumped into Euan. While saying it was unfortunate that they did not cast him, Frears did ask if Bremner knew of any Scottish singers as they were still desperately looking for a Burlesque singer. Euan said Scottish, no...Irish, yes!  And the rest as they say is history!!!

Camille auditioned for the part of a burlesque chanteuse in his new film Mrs Henderson Presents, about the rise of the Windmill Theatre, and was delighted to be offered the part.  Other names rumoured to have been considered, include Minnie Driver, Denise Van Outen, Martine McCutchen and Natalia Imbruglia

Filming starts in October with Dame Judi Dench, Bob Hoskins and Will Young.
